During my spring break that school year, I decided to take a trip. I took a week off work and drove to the Oregon Coast.
I went alone.
During the days, I lay on the beaches and during the evenings I went to the bars. I met people. I met a woman that liked to fight and I accidentally insulted her. I met an awkward boy that bought me a lot of drinks. I sang karaoke. I danced, and not badly. I looked good.
I practiced not being shy.
I enjoyed my independence. I did what I wanted to do. I learned a little more about who I was, and who I wanted to be.
I had fun.
Sometimes, I realized, it’s okay to just have fun.

“I don’t know what to say other than it is the most beautiful book that I have ever read.” – Ashley
“Really, I am rather speechless.” – Sarah
