Best Spirituality Book for Depression: As A Man Thinketh by James Allen

As A Man Thinketh is a simple book. Skillfully written, but very simple. It’s a collection of aphorisms–one-liners and short paragraphs–all making, essentially, the same point. As a man thinketh, so is he, James Allen writes.

He writes it over and over again.

The book is sweet, though. It’s old-fashioned and inspiring, particularly if you’re in need of some encouragement. It’s fun to read a turn-of-the-century classic once in a while, if only to remind yourself these New Age concepts aren’t actually so new.

Can this book help me overcome depression?

Yes.

Does it address depression specifically? What does it say that can help?

No, and yes. Positivity is for all situations.

Have you tried using the spiritual practices in this book to deal with your depression? Did they work?

Yes and yes.

To what degree do you think this book can help me overcome depression?
