Life Hack for Overcoming Depression: Don’t assume you need anything until you’ve proven it

Maybe you love high-speed internet. I do. And I would never try to make you feel guilty about that.

But everyone—everyone I know, anyway—has something they don’t need.

The trick is figuring out what those things are.

I, for one, prefer not having my own car. My husband and I share his, and I always find it enjoyable to get out of the house (I work almost exclusively from home) and pick him up from work or from the dentist.

It gives us extra time to chat.

It gets me out of the house.

I like it.

What about you? What things do you have that you can easily do without? I’d love to hear your comments.

“For my part, I could easily do without the post office.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

“This is the kind of writing that makes me feel as if I’d sat down with the author on the sofa with cups of tea and we were talking together for hours. The style is so vulnerable …” – Heather

“I don’t know what to say other than it is the most beautiful book that I have ever read.” – Ashley

“Really, I am rather speechless.” – Sarah

“I loved the book!! I couldn’t stop reading it!! It touched me so very much.” – Haydee

“Player has given a beautiful gift to her readers. I was very touched.” – Celia

“Player’s chatty style evokes a realism and empathy for the story. One is able to feel her pain.” – Anonymous

  1. Dear Molly,

We own two cars–one regular and one van–but we use only one. Same when we were part of the work-a-day world. And we spent the money that we saved by going to Italy for three weeks every summer.

I am constantly amazed at how much we two strangers have in common.

    Most cordially, Celia
